Adani Foundation has been coordinating with government’s agriculture department at district & block level of Surguja, Chhattisgarh, to build better link between farmers & government scheme. The Foundation has raised level of awareness among farmers through regular two-way sharing of issues & solutions for better cropping.
In Tiroda region of Maharashtra and its surrounding villages, agriculture has always been the primary source of livelihood. It is predominantly known as the paddy belt of Maharashtra. However, the traditions methods of paddy cultivation and the lack of exposure & technical awareness of the farmers were taking a toll on the per hectare production of the rice in the fields. On pilot basis, the Foundation in collaboration with 1050 farmers from 35 villages of the region effectively implemented System of Rice Intensification (SRI) method on 1050 Acres of farm-land. Besides, ensuring to update the farmers with the necessary awareness & knowledge about SRI, Adani Foundation also empowered them with training for adopting the low water, labour-intensive and organic method reaping a profit of 5 crore with an investment of Rs. 20 lac from Adani Foundation. Today, after the successful pilot phase, the Foundation has roped in 2066 farmers from 52 villages who have adopted the SRI technique covering a total of 4381 acres of land, till date.
