Support for the differently-abled
Adani Foundation initiated a survey in 14 Panchayats and 18 villages of Raigarh district to identify differently-abled people in November 2018 to support them. In all, 10 people were identified, who had lost their limbs in different accidents. The Foundation, jointly with renowned organisation Jaipur Foot, took the initiative of helping the differently-abled people by providing artificial hands and legs. Vivek Das Mahant, of Kunjemura village, is a young boy who had lost one of his legs in an accident when he was 10 years old. He was using an artificial leg but was unable to replace it due to poor financial condition. He said that the quality of the artificial leg, provided by the Foundation, is excellent. He is able to drive his autorickshaw smoothly and is earning Rs. 300 to 600 daily in Raigarh city.
Certification Ceremony held at GAIMS, Bhuj
Adani GAIMS, Bhuj, and Adani Skill Development Centre imparted training to housekeepers and Patient Care Assistants in soft skills like behavioral skills, cleanliness, hospital etiquette and team building. The training resulted in a change in the patient care services and improvement in communication with the community. The hospital staff is not only trained but also certified by Saksham. Shri V.S. Gadhavi, Director, Adani Foundation, handed the certificates to the staff and Dr. Shardul Chaurasia, Head Support Service, GAIMS, Bhuj, was also present at this ceremony.
Adani Vidya Mandir, Surguja to host Science Olympiad
The second level exam of the Science Olympiad Foundation was conducted at the Adani Vidya Mandir in Surguja on 10 Februrary 2019. Students from different schools in Surguja, namely, Oriental Public Schools, Prayas, Sadhurama Vidyalaya, Academic Heights Public School, Holy Cross Public School participated in the exam. Out of the 104 students who qualified for the examination, 4 were from Adani Vidya Mandir, Sarguja. The Science Olympiad Foundation is an educational organisation popularising academic competition and assisting development of competitive spirit among school children.
Girls Athletic Meet in Dhamra, Odisha
Adani Foundation held a two-day Inter-school Girls Athletic Meet at Dhamra Port Periphery and Railway Corridor, Odisha. One event was held at the Dosinga Panchayat and another one at Ram Narayan High School. In all, 108 students participated in this event. The games included 100 & 200 m races, long jump, high jump and shotput. The Bhadrak District Education Officer Shri Sangram Sahu attended the event as a Chief Guest and distributed awards to the winners. He also gave mementos to the schools for motivating their girl students to participate in the athletic meet.
4th Adani Inter-village Tournament
The final of the Adani Inter-village Football Tournament was a high intensity game wherein the Salhi village, Chhattisgarh, defeated Parsa by 2-0. This is their third consecutive trophy in three years. The annual tournament is keenly contested by ten teams from ten villages and has created a niche for itself. Mr. Vinay Porte of Salhi, who participated in the tournament, shared, “I want to thank the Adani Foundation for providing a sports culture to youths where we get to showcase our talents.” Another player from Parsa village, Mr. Dhaneshwar expressed his happiness by thanking the Adani Foundation for giving him an opportunity to play his favourite game, football.
